Report: Raiders Claim Former Rams LB Ray Ray Armstrong

According to a source, the Raiders claimed former Rams LB Ray Ray Armstrong Tuesday, via Field Yates.

Armstrong was released by the Rams on Monday, one day after picking up an unnecessary roughness penalty for shoving Eagles punt returner Darren Sproles after a play.

This was not the first time Armstrong committed a needless special times penalty, as he racked up nine such penalties as a rookie in 2013.

Armstrong, 23, was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Miami last year, and appeared in all 16 games for St. Louis, primarily as a special teams player.

Oakland could envision using Armstrong in their base defense, as their linebacking corps has been depleted in recent days, particularly after placing LB Kaluka Maiava on injured reserve.
