Nick Wagoner of ESPN reports that the Rams are closing in on aย two-year deal with former Patriots LB Akeem Ayers.
- Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Ayers receives a two-year, $6 million deal with $3 million guaranteed.
- The deal can be worth $10 million if he reaches incentives.
Wagoner mentions that there is a lotย of familiarity in building with Ayers given he worked withย DCย Gregg Williams in Tennessee.
Ayers, is an intriguing free agent given that he really came on for New England after they traded aย 2015 sixth-round pick to the Titans in return for him.
Tennessee used a second round pick on him back in 2011, but he wasn’t able to live up to his draft status with them, which led to him being inactive a few times this past season.
In 2014, Ayers appeared in 11 games last year and recorded 23 tackles, four sacks, an interception and a pass defense.ย Pro Football Focusย has him rated as the No. 30ย outside linebacker in a 3-4 defenseย out of 46ย qualifying players.
We hadย Ayers listed as the No. 61ย player in ourย Top 100 Free Agents list.
