Report: Saints Bring In C Jonathan Goodwin For A Visit

Mike Triplett of ESPN, citing a league source, reports that the Saints brought in their former C Jonathan Goodwin for a visit Wednesday.

  • Triplett adds that a reunion is “possible” and “makes a lot of sense.”

Goodwin, 35, has spent the past three seasons as the starting center for the 49ers before being released.  Goodwin began his career in 2002 with the New York Jets, before moving on to New Orleans for five seasons.

When Goodwin left New Orleans, he was replaced by Brian De La Puente, who recently signed with the Chicago Bears.  Goodwin could complete the circle, and follow his own successor.

The Saints do have other internal options for the center position, including second-year pro Tim Lelito.

We have Goodwin rated No. 24 in our Top Available Free Agents List.
