Saints RB Mark Ingram Out “At Least” A Month With Broken Hand

Update:

Adam Schefter is now reporting that Saints RB Mark Ingram is expected to be out “at least” a month with a broken hand.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Saints RB Mark Ingram is expected to miss about a month with a hand injury he suffered during Sunday’s loss to the Browns.

The injury hits just keep coming, even on Monday.

This news is terribly disappointing for the Saints and Ingram as he has looked like a completely changed running back this season. Khyri Thornton should be in line to see a much larger workload in the coming weeks following this injury.

Ingram, 24, is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is set to make $1,386,375 for the 2014 season. The Saints ultimately elected to not pick up Ingram’s fifth-year option during the offseason that would have paid him $5.211 million, but that figure was only guaranteed for injury.

So far this season, Ingram has rushed for 143 yards on 24 carries (6 YPC) and scored three touchdowns. He’s also added four receptions for 22 yards receiving.
