Report: Trade Talks Between The Chiefs & Dolphins For LT Branden Albert Are “Dead”

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that trade talks for Chiefs LT Branden Albert are “dead,” and Kansas City is now focused on re-signing him a long-term contract.

Rapoport adds that the Dolphins never offered more than a third-round pick, despite previous reports indicating that Miami was comfortable including one of their two second-round picks.

In recent days, there’s been some speculation that the Chiefs would consider 2014 draft picks in return for Albert, but it appears as though there’s now a better shot of Albert staying in Kansas City beyond on the 2013 season.

The Chiefs used the No. 1 overall pick in the draft on Eric Fisher, so it will be interesting to see if they move him to right tackle this season and keep Albert in place as their blind-side protector.
