Saints Are Discussing A New Contract With OC Peter Carmichael

According to Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Saints and offensive coordinator Peter Carmichael are still in the process of discussing a contract that would keep him in New Orleans.

“It’s an easy decision for me, especially what’s best for my family. … I think it was a unique circumstance this year with just the whole contract thing. This is going to be a tough place to ever leave for me,” Carmichael said.

Carmichael interviewed for the Bears head coaching position, but eventually took his name out of the hat and then turned down interviews with Eagles and Jaguars for their offensive coordinator vacancies.

With his contract with the Saints soon to expire, Carmichael is essentially a coaching free agent. Carmichael mentioned that a deal is “going to happen.”
