Saints Decline To Match Ravens’ Offer Sheet For WR Willie Snead

Adam Schefter confirms reports over the weekend that the Saints will not match the Ravens’ offer sheet to RFA WR Willie Snead.

Baltimore signed Snead to a two-year offer sheet worth up to $10.4 million on Friday. The deal is a two-year, $7 million contract that includes another $3.4 million in incentives and a $2 million signing bonus.

The Saints will now have five days to match the Ravens’ offer sheet to Snead, but it sounds like they’ll pass on doing so.

This shouldn’t come as a big surprise, considering that the Saints signed Cameron Meredith away from the Bears and brought back Brandon Coleman earlier this week.

New Orleans placed the original-round restricted tender on Snead, which would have cost them $1.907 for the 2018 season.

Snead, 25, originally signed on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent back in 2014. He lasted just a few months in Cleveland before signing on to the Panthers’ practice squad during his rookie season. Snead eventually joined the Saints towards the end of the year and returned to the team on a future/reserve contract.

The Saints re-signed Snead to a one-year exclusive rights deal last year.

In 2017, Snead appeared in 11 games for the Saints and caught eight passes for 92 yards receiving and no touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 76 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.
