ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that the Saints worked out cornerbacks Chris Owens and Tony Carter on Wednesday.

According to Caplan, New Orleans is expected to sign Owens to a contract at some point in the near future.

Owens, 28, is a former third round pick of the Falcons back in 2009. He played out his rookie contract with the Falcons before signing on with the Browns as an unrestricted free agent in March of 2013.

Since then, Owens has played for the Dolphins, Chiefs and Lions. However, he was placed on waivers by Detroit a little over a month ago.

In 2014, Owens appeared in 11 games and recorded 33 tackles, a half sack, a fumble recovery and four pass defenses.
