Saints Facing “Significant” Discipline For Repeat COVID-19 Protocol Violations

According to Adam Schefter, the Saints are facing “significant” discipline from the NFL for being repeat offenders after violating the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols during their celebration in the locker room following a win against the Buccaneers last Sunday.

Multiple Saints players and even the team’s official social media pages posted videos showing players dancing and celebrating without wearing masks in the locker room, which is a clear violation.

Schefter says a decision is expected this week, with the Raiders a potential model as another team that’s repeatedly broken the joint NFL and NFLPA virus protocols.

The NFL fined Las Vegas $500,000, HC Jon Gruden $150,000 and stripped the team of a sixth-round draft pick

Saints HC Sean Payton was already fined $100,000 for not wearing a mask in a game earlier this season and the organization was fined $250,000.

NFL discipline for repeat offenders is always more severe, so the fines will likely be heavier. The biggest question might be if the Saints will lose a draft pick for this violation.

We’ll have more on the Saints as the news is available.
