Saints To Meet With RB Tim Hightower About New Contract

Katherine Terrell of the Times-Picayune reports that the Saints will meet with free agent RB Tim Hightower this about possibly re-signing him to a new contract.

It’s been a few weeks since we heard anything about the Saints bringing Hightower back, but it appears as though New Orleans is now prepared to turn their attention him after picking up some additional cap space this week.

Last year, Hightower was a great story for the Saints last year and wound up being a much more effective player than many anticipated him being after his long layoff.

Hightower, 29, is a former fifth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2008. He spent three years in Arizona before signing on with the Redskins in 2011.

Injuries got the best of Hightower and led to him being out of the league for three years before he signed on with the Saints last year.

In 2015, Hightower appeared in eight games for the Saints and ran for 96 yards on 35 carries (3.9 YPC) to go along with 12 receptions for 129 yards receiving and four total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 running back out of 69 qualifying players.
