The New Orleans Saints officially placed RB Rob Kelley on injured reserve after clearing waivers on Sunday.
The Saints will likely waive Kelley with an injury settlement in the coming weeks once he’s healthy.
Kelley, 26, wound up signing on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Tulane back in 2016. He played out the third year of his three-year, $1.62 million contract and made a base salary of $630,000 for the 2018 season.
Kelley was in line to be a restricted free agent this offseason, but the Redskins declined to tender him an offer. The Saints signed him to a contract last week only to waive him with an injury designation on Saturday.
In 2018, Kelley appeared in two games and rushed for eight yards on two carries.
