The New Orleans Saints have signed K Wil Lutz to a contract on Tuesday, according to his agent John Perla.
Perla mentions that the Saints have specifically signed Lutz to their 53-man roster, and not their practice squad.
Lutz tried out for the team earlier in the week, so he was clearly on their radar. This creates an interesting situation for K Kai Forbath, as it’s not all that common for a team to have two kickers on their active roster at this point in the year.
Lutz, 22, wound up signing on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia State back in May. He agreed to a three-year, $1.62 million contract with Baltimore, but was unfortunately waived last week as they cut their roster down.
During his college career, Lutz converted 27 of 39 field goal attempts (69.2 percent) to go along with 102 of 104 extra point tries.
