Saints Signing WR Hakeem Nicks To One-Year Deal

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Saints are signing veteran WR Hakeem Nicks to a one-year contract on Wednesday.

New Orleans actually brought Nicks in for a workout back in May, but held off on signing him to a contract. Before that, Nicks worked out for the Bengals.

The Saints had reportedly shown some interest Anquan Boldin before he signed with the Lions, so they were clearly in the market for receiver help.

Nicks, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Giants back in 2009. He spent five years in New York before he departed in 2014 and signed a one-year deal with the Colts.

After another limited free agent market, Nicks was forced to sign a one-year deal with the Titans, but he was unfortunately among their final roster cuts. The Giants later brought him back in November after they sustained some injuries at the position and he finish out the year in New York.

In 2015, Nicks appeared in six games for the Giants and totaled seven receptions for 54 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

We had him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
