Seahawks G Luke Joeckel Planning To Undergo Knee Surgery During Bye Week

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that Seahawks G Luke Joeckel (knee) will play today and then plans to undergo knee surgery during the team’s bye week.

Garafolo adds that this is the plan as of now and both Joeckel and the team will see how he comes out of Week 5’s game before making anything official.

Should Joeckel opt to undergo the surgery, Garafolo says that he should be looking at a short absence.

Joeckel, 25, was taken with the No. 2 overall pick by the Jaguars back in 2013. He’s finished the final year of his four-year, $21.2 million contract with the Jaguars, but Jacksonville declined to pick up his fifth-year option, which allowed him to test the open market during the offseason.

The Seahawks eventually signed him to a one-year, $8 million contract.

In 2017, Joeckel appeared in all four games for the Seahawks and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 26 guard out of 72 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Joeckel as the news is available.
