Seahawks Place TE Ed Dickson Back On IR, Promote TE Tyrone Swoopes

The Seattle Seahawks announced Friday that they’ve placed TE Ed Dickson back on injured reserve and promoted TE Tyrone Swoopes to their active roster.

Seattle just activated Dickson from injured reserve earlier in the week, but Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported yesterday that this move was expected, given that there’s concern over Dickson’s recovery from injury.

Dickson, 32, is a former third-round pick by the Ravens out of Oregon in the 2010 NFL Draft. He is entering the second year of a three-year, $10.7 million contract and is set to earn a $3.3 million base salary in 2019.

Dickson played out his three-year rookie contract in Baltimore before re-signing to a one-year deal as a restricted free agent. He signed a three-year deal with the Panthers in 2015 and finished out his contract before joining the Seahawks last year.

The Seahawks placed Dickson on injured reserve coming out of the preseason before being activated a few days ago.

In 2018, Dickson appeared in 10 games for the Seahawks and recorded 12 receptions for 143 yards receiving (11.9 YPC) and scored three touchdowns.
