Seahawks Place Three On IR, Promote Two

The Seattle Seahawks announced Wednesday that they’ve officially placed LB Bruce Irvin, S Marquise Blair and WR Phillip Dorsett on injured reserve.

The Seahawks also promoted CB Linden Stephens and DT Anthony Rush to their active roster.

Irvin, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2012. He spent four years in Seattle before signing a four-year, $37 million contract that included $19 million guaranteed with the Raiders in 2016.

The Raiders cut Irvin loose in 2018 and he later signed on with the Falcons and finished out the season in Atlanta. From there, he agreed to a one-year deal with the Panthers for 2019 and returned to the Seahawks on a one-year deal in 2020

In 2020, Irvin appeared in two games for the Seahawks and recorded five total tackles.

Blair, 23, was a second-round pick by the Seahawks out of Utah in 2019. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $6.2 million contract with Seattle.

In 2020, Blair appeared in two games for the Seahawks and recorded 9 tackles and a forced fumble.

Stephens, 25, originally signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati back in 2018. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract, but was waived coming out of the preseason.

Stephens later had brief stints with the Rams and Broncos before the Seahawks signed him to their practice squad last year. The Dolphins later signed him to their active roster only to cut him loose back in April.

The Seahawks opted to claim him off of waivers before waiving him and later re-signing him to their practice squad at the start of the season.

During his four-year college career at Cincinnati, Stephens recorded 140 tackles, six interceptions, a forced fumble, and 20 passes defended over the course of 44 games.
