Seahawks Secondary Coach Nick Sorensen ‘Frontrunner’ For Jaguars’ STs Coordinator Job

Aaron Wilson, citing league sources, reports that Seahawks secondary coach and nickel specialist Nick Sorensen is emerging as the frontrunner for the Jaguars special teams coordinator vacancy.

The Jaguars originally hired Brian Schneider as coordinator several months ago. However, he has decided to take a leave of absence for personal reasons.

Wilson notes that Sorensen is well-versed in Schneider’s system and should be able to continue installing it in the coming months.

The Jaguars recently interviewed former Lions special teams coordinator Brayden Coombs for the position, but it seemed like an odd fit, considering that new OC Darrell Bevell fired him midseason last year while they were together in Detroit.

Sorensen, 42, played 10 years in the NFL for the Dolphins, Rams, Jaguars and Browns. He took his first coaching job with the Seahawks as their secondary coach in 2013 and has remained in Seattle ever since.

We’ll have more regarding the Jaguars’ job as the news is available.
