Sheldon Rankins & Sidney Jones Among Several Players Being Discussed In Trade Talks

According to Albert Breer, Saints DL Sheldon Rankins and Eagles CB Sidney Jones are among some notable players who have come up in trade talks in recent days. 

The full list of trade candidates to watch this weekend, per Breer, includes:

  2. Panthers WR Seth Roberts
  3. Bills TE Jason Croom
  4. Saints DL Sheldon Rankins
  5. Eagles CB Rasul Douglas
  6. Eagles CB Sidney Jones
  7. Washington OLB Ryan Anderson
  8. Cardinals OL Josh Miles
  9. Cardinals OL Max Garcia
  10. Cardinals OL Justin Pugh

Rankins, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Saints back in 2016. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $12.8 million contract when the Saints picked up his fifth-year option this past April.

In 2019, Rankins appeared in 10 games for the Saints and recorded 10 tackles and two sacks. He was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 69 interior defender out of 116 qualifying players.

Pugh, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Giants back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $8.346 million contract when the Giants elected to pick up Pugh’s fifth-year option.

Pugh later signed a five-year contract worth over $45 million with the Cardinals back in 2018.  He stands to make base salaries of $7.25 million and $7.75 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2019, Pugh appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals, making 16 starts for them at right guard.

Jones, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2017. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $6.14 million contract that included $3.814 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $1.3 million for the 2020 season. 

In 2019, Jones appeared in 12 games for the Eagles and recorded 22 tackles, two interceptions and passes defended.
