Steelers Place Second-Round Tenders On RFA CB Mike Hilton & OL Matt Feiler

Adam Schefter reports that the Steelers are placing the second-round tender on restricted free agent CB Mike Hilton

According to Mike Garafolo, the Steelers are also using a second-round tender on OL Matt Feiler.

The second-round tender is projected to cost around $3.27 million for the 2020 season and ensures that they would get a second-round pick should they decline to match an offer sheet from another team.

Hilton, 26, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi State back in 2016 but was was among their final roster cuts his rookie year.

He joined the Patriots’ practice squad for a week before the Steelers added him to their taxi squad in December 2016 and re-signed him to three-straight one-year contracts.

In 2019, Hilton appeared in all 16 games and recorded 65 total tackles, six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one interception,  one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and 11 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 42 overall cornerback out of 113 qualifying players.
