Steelers Re-Sign RFA TE Xavier Grimble

The Pittsburgh Steelers officially re-signed TE Xavier Grimble to a one-year restricted contract for the 2019 season on Tuesday.

The Steelers used aa low-round offer on Grimble that will cost them $2.025 million for the 2019 season. 

Grimble, 26, originally signed on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of USC back in 2014. He lasted just a few months with the Giants before eventually signing on to the 49ers’ practice squad.

Grimble had a brief stint with the Patriots before returning to the 49ers on a future/reserve contract in 2015. The Steelers later added him to their taxi squad and re-signed him to an exclusive rights contract. 

Grimble will be an unrestricted free agent in 2020. 

In 2018, Grimble appeared in all 16 games for the Steelers and recorded six receptions for 86 yards (14.3 YPC), lost one fumble, and scored no touchdowns.
