The Steelers will protect their 2020 compensatory pick for losing Le’Veon Bell by making this move.
Moncrief struggled with drops at the start of the season and rookie WR Dionte Johnson has looked good enough that Pittsburgh is comfortable parting ways with a receiver.
Moncrief, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Colts back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.745 million contract before agreeing to a one-year, $9.6 million fully-guaranteed with the Jaguars last year.
He signed a two-year deal with the Steelers back in March.
In 2019, Moncrief appeared in five games for the Steelers and recorded four receptions for 18 yards (4.5 YPC) and no touchdowns.
