Steelers Will Start Charlie Batch

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said on Monday that Charlie Batch was the favorite to start this weekends game against the Buccaneers because of the fact that he was the teams healthiest option at quarterback.

Pittsburgh Steelers reporter Ken Laird tweets that some Pittsburgh players have told him that Tomlin has made it clear to them that he will in fact start Batch this weekend instead of Byron Leftwich.

Leftwich is returning from a sprained knee so there isn’t any reason to rush him back until he’s actually healthy and ready to go.

In other related news, Dennis Dixon underwent arthroscopic surgery on his lateral meniscus today and is expected to be out for three weeks, per Adam Schefter.
