Texans Give CB Johnathan Joseph Pay Raise

According to Field Yates, the Texans gave veteran CB Johnathan Joseph a raise in recent days.

Yates mentions that Joseph received a $1.5M signing bonus, which increased his base salary from $2.9 million to $4 million, while his per-game roster bonuses were reduced from $1 million total to $500,000 total.

Joseph, 35, is a former first-round pick of the Bengals back in 2006. He spent five years in Cincinnati before departing for a free agent deal with the Texans in 2011.

Joseph was in the final year of his three-year, $22 million contract when he agreed to a new two-year contract last year. He’s in line to be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

In 2018, Joseph appeared in 14 games for the Texans and recorded 58 tackles, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown and 13 pass defenses.
