Texans Name Brian Hoyer Starting Quarterback

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports the Texans have named Brian Hoyer as their starting quarterback.

Both Hoyer and Ryan Mallett have had their struggles this summer, but it appears as though HC Bill O’Brien believes Hoyer is more consistent option overall.

Hoyer, 29, signed a two-year, $10.5 million contract that includes $4.75 million guaranteed with the Texans during the offseason.

In 2014, Hoyer appeared in 14 games and threw for 3,334 yards while completing 55.4 percent of his passes to go along with 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 35 quarterback out of 39 players.
