Texans Promote RB Akeem Hunt To Active Roster, Waive OLB Kourtnei Brown

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans are promoting RB Akeem Hunt to the active roster.

Hunt, 22, originally signed on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue back in May. However, he was unfortunately among their early roster cuts. The Ravens later signed him to their practice squad, but he lasted just a week in Baltimore.

The Texans signed him to their practice squad a few weeks ago.

During his four-year college career at Purdue, Hunt ran for 2,035 on 371 carries (5.5 YPC) to go along with 100 receptions for 841 yards receiving and 17 total touchdowns.

Brown, 27, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson back in 2012. Since then, Brown has played for a number of teams including the Redskins, Bills, Lions, Rams and Texans.

He was one of the more popular players during this year’s Hard Knocks, but wound up being among the Texans’ final roster cuts. The Buccaneers claimed Brown off of waivers at the start of the season, but he later returned to the Texans a few weeks later.

This season, Brown appeared in two games, but has yet to record a single statistic.
