Texans Promote TE Evan Baylis To Active Roster, Waived WR Andy Jones

Aaron Wilson, citing a league source, reports that the Texans are promoting rookie tight end Evan Baylis from the practice squad to the active roster on Wednesday.

  • The Texans also waived WR Andy Jones.

This comes just a day after the Texans placed TE C.J. Fiedorowicz on injured reserve. Houston also has two other tight ends dealing with concussions, so they had to add some help at the position in time for Thursday’s game against the Bengals.

Baylis, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Texans cut him loose coming out of the preseason and later signed him to their practice squad.

During his college career, Bayless caught 44 passes for 511 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
