Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Texans C Nick Martinย recently underwent ankle surgery and is nowย expected to miss the 2016 season.

The Texans will likely place Martin on injured reserve in the coming days and begin looking for another center to bring in.
Martin, 23, was taken in the second round of this year’s NFL draft by the Texans. He signed aย four-year, $4.77 million contractย that included $2.33 million guaranteed.
Martin will make base salaries ofย $450,000 (2016), $667,044 (2017), $884,088 (2018) and $1.1 million (2019) over the next four years.
During his college career at Notre Dame,ย Martin made 37 starts at both guard and center.
