Texans Signing CB Phillip Gaines To One-Year Contract

Aaron Wilson reports that the Texans are signing CB Phillip Gaines to a one-year contract on Tuesday.

Gaines, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,824,112 contract and made a base salary of $700,000 before signing on with the Bills in 2018.

The Browns acquired Gaines in mid-2018 after claiming him off of waivers from the Buffalo Bills. Cleveland re-signed him to a one-year contract back in March but cut him loose with an injury settlement last week after landing on injured reserve due to a concussion.

In 2018, Gaines appeared in 11 games, seven for the Bills and four for the Browns, and recorded 39 tackles, no interceptions and two pass defenses.
