Texans Worked Out 5 Players

According to Howard Balzer, the Houston Texans brought in five players for tryouts on Tuesday including WR Mario Alford.

The full list of tryouts for the Texans includes:

  1. WR Mario Alford
  2. WR C.J. Board
  3. WR Devin Lucien
  4. OT Javarius Leamon
  5. OT D.J. Tialavea

Of this group, the Texans elected to sign Lucien to their practice squad on Tuesday.

Alford, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Bengals back in 2015. He was waived with an injury settlement after one year in Cincinnati and later signed to the Jets’ practice squad back in November of last year.

Alford would finish out the 2016 season with the Browns but was, unfortunately, cut loose coming out of the preseason before signing on to the Bears’ practice squad.

In 2016, Alford was active for three games but did not catch a single pass. He did, however, contribute 190 kick return yards and 68 punt return yards on special teams.
