Titans Promote TEs Coach Arthur Smith To Offensive Coordinator

The Tennessee Titans announced Monday that they’ve promoted TEs coachย Arthur Smith to offensive coordinator, replacing Matt LaFleur.

โ€œI am excited for Arthur and for our team to be able to elevate a deserving coach,โ€ said Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. โ€œI was impressed throughout the season in gameplan meetings with his ideas, in-game with his understanding of situations and the ability to get the most out of his position group.ย We spent a good bit of time last week talking about this opportunity. He has a great deal of familiarity with our players and the continuity of the offense will allow our players to continue to develop and improve.โ€

Recent reports mentioned that Smith was someone to watch for the Titans’ offensive coordinator job, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Smith began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at North Carolina back in 2006. From there, he worked for the Redskins for two years before being hired as an administrative assistant/defensive intern at Ole Miss in 2010.

The Titans would hire Smith as their defensive assistant/quality control coach a year later and he worked his way to TEs coach in 2015.
