Titans Rule Out QB Marcus Mariota For Week 7, Starting Zach Mettenberger

Titans HC Ken Whisenhunt announced Friday that rookie QB Marcus Mariota will not play against the Falcons on Sunday.

Mariota was unable to practice all week after sustaining an MCL sprain during last weekend’s game, so this shouldn’t come as a complete surprise.

Tennessee will now turn to Zach Mettenberger as their starter for Week 7’s game.

Previous reports have said that Mariota could miss between 3-4 weeks in order for his knee to be fully healed.

On benefit of going with Mettenberger while Mariota is out with his knee injury is that it could also boost his trade value.

This season, Mariota has thrown for 1,239 yards while completing 63.9 percent of his passes to go along with nine touchdowns and five interceptions. He’s also added 72 yards rushing over the course of five games.
