TRADE: Giants Trade C Brett Jones To Vikings For 2019 7th-Rd Pick

The New York Giants announced Sunday that they’ve traded C Brett Jones to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a 2019 draft pick.

  • Ralph Vacchiano reports that the Giants receive a 2019 seventh-round pick for Jones.

The Vikings have been dealing with injuries to their offseason including to C Pat Elflein, so it makes sense that they would see what’s out there in the trade market.

As for the Giants, they will move forward with on Jon Halapio as their starting center and John Greco as the backup.

Jones, 26, was selected in the second round of 2013 CFL draft by the Calgary Stampeders. In just two years with the Stampeders, Jones has won CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie Award (2013) and the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award (2014).

Jones signed on with the Giants back in 2015 and just finished a three-year, $1,575,000 deal. He took over for Weston Richburg last season after he was placed on injured reserve.

The Giants brought Jones back on a one-year restricted deal worth $2.914 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Jones appeared in all 16 games for the Giants and Pro Football Focus graded him as the No. 18 overall center out of 79 qualifiers.
