The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Saturday that they’ve traded WR Sammie Coatesย and a 2019ย seveth-round pick to the Browns in exchange for Clevelandโs 2018 sixth-round pick.
This pick happens to be the sixth-rounder the Browns received from the Steelers in the trade for CB Justin Gilbert.
There has been talk that Coates could be on the roster bubble this summer, but it appears as though the Steelers found a taker for him before the cut deadline.
Coates, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Steelers back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $3 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $615,000 and $705,000 over the remainder of the contract.
In 2016, Coates appeared in 14 games for the Steelers and caught 21 passes for 435 yards receiving and two touchdowns while adding 150 kick return yards.
