Trent Richardson’s Chances Of Making Raiders’ 53-Man Roster Just “50 Percent”

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Trent Richardson‘s chances of making the Raiders’ 53-man roster is just “50 percent.”

Rapoport mentions that competition from Latavius Murray, Roy Helu and Michael Dyer is likely to factor into the Raiders’ decision to keep Richardson in the end.

Oakland wound up placing Richardson on the active/NFI list earlier in the week, so he’s already dealing with some form of injury. Beyond that, releasing Richardson would free up $1,275,000 in cap space, according to OverTheCap.com.

Richardson, 25, signed a two-year, $3.85 million contract that included $600,000 guaranteed with the Raiders back in March. He stands to make a base salary of $925,000 for the 2015 season.

In 2014, he ran for 519 yards on 159 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with 27 receptions for 229 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 running back out of 57 qualifying players.
