Veteran S Steve Gregory Retiring From The NFL

Veteran S Steve Gregory announced his retirement from the NFL Saturday in a statement posted on Twitter by his agent David Canter.

Gregory, 31, signed with the Chiefs a little over a week ago, so this news is a little surprising.

Gregory spent the first six year of his career with the Chargers before joining the Patriots in 2012. New England wound up cutting him loose back in February in a move that freed up $2.85 million in available cap space for the Patriots’ offseason.

He appeared in 14 games for the Patriots last season and totaled 79 tackles, one sack and a pass defensed. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 25 safety in the league last season.
