Vikings Have Expressed “Lukewarm” Interest In ILB Brandon Spikes

Darren Wolfson of ESPN 1500 reports that the Vikings have “lukewarm” interest in free agent ILB Brandon Spikes.

  • Wolfson mentions that he has yet to hearing anything regarding fellow ILBs Mason Foster and Rolando McClain, but admits Minnesota could have just as much interest in them.

The inside linebacker market has been very slow-moving since free agency got underway a week and a half ago.

However, the Colts signed Nate Irving to a contract Friday, so there’s a chance that things could pick up for guys like Spikes, McClain and Foster in the coming days.

Spikes, 27, was forced to sign a one-year, $3 million contract with the Bills last year after finding very limited interest on the open market.

In 2014, he appeared in all 16 games and recorded 54 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and three pass defines. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the N0. 13 inside linebacker out of 60 qualifying players due in large part to a very solid rating as a run-defender.

We have Spikes listed as the No. 49 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
