Vikings Waive DL Scott Crichton

The Minnesota Vikings announced Friday that they’ve waived DL Scott Crichton.

It’s worth mentioning that Crichton will have to clear waivers in the coming days to be an unrestricted free agent.

Crichton, 25, was taken in the third round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Vikings. He’s in the final year of his four-year, $3,020,500 rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $769,000 for the 2017 season.

The Vikings waived him with an injury designation coming out of the preseason last year and he spent the entire season on injured reserve after he cleared waivers.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Crichton will free up $769,000 of available cap space while creating $164,081 in dead money.

In 2015, Crichton appeared in 13 games for the Vikings and recorded eight tackles.
