X Rays Negative On Matthew Stafford and Kevin Smith Injuries

Dave Birkett of the of the Detroit Free Press reports that both RB Kevin Smith and QB Matthew Stafford‘s x-rays came back negative.

Both players were forced to leave the game due to to injuries. Smith injured his right ankle, the same one that he injured last season, while Stafford banged his hand on the Raiders’ DE Dave Tollefson’s helmet.

While Stafford’s injury seems to be no big deal, but there is some concern with Smith who claims he hasn’t sprained his ankle. Both figure to be key components in the Lions offense this season, so an injury to Smith could force them to get serious about some of the available free agent options like Ryan Grant.
