Andre Williams announced Thursday night via his Instagram account that he’s re-signing with the Chargers.
I am very excited to have another opportunity to play the game of football for the @chargers . I just want to thank the organization for extending the tender! I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. Looking forward to getting back together with a great group of guys in a new city. First things first, gotta go earn my spot on the roster!
Williams, 24, is a former fourth-round pick by the Giants of the 2014 NFL Draft. He was in the third year a four-year, $2,673,600 rookie contract and set to earn a base salary of $600,000 for 2016 when the Giants cut him loose coming out of the preseason.
Williams wound up being claimed off of waivers from by the Chargers but was later cut him loose before signing him to their practice squad. The Chargers called him in late December.
In 2016, Williams appeared in one game and rushed for 87 yards on 18 carries (4.7 YPC) and no touchdowns.
