Tom Pelissero reports that the Colts are releasing veteran LB Akeem Ayers on Saturday.
Ayers, 28, is a former seventh-round pick of the Titans back in 2011. He was later traded to the Patriots in return for a 2015 sixth-round pick.
The Rams signed him to a two-year, $6 million contract with $2.75 million guaranteed back in March of 2015. However, he was cut loose by the team in September of last year.
The Colts signed Ayers to a contract just a few days after he was released.
In 2016, Ayers appeared in all 16 games for the Colts and recorded 21 total tackles, two sacks, one interception, and two pass defenses.
