Jaguars Worked Out Veteran CB Alterraun Verner

Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports that the Jaguars worked out veteran CB Alterraun Verner last week.

A source tells O’Halloran of Verner: “He was a little out of shape. Word is they will do a do-over.”

This is the first reported interest regarding Verner in several months.

O’Halloran mentions that the Jaguars could be interested in Verner as a depth option behind Jalen Ramsey, A.J. Bouye and Aaron Colvin.

Verner, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Titans back in 2010. He spent four years in Tennessee before signing a  four-year, $25.5 million contract that included $14 million guaranteed with the Buccaneers in 2014.

Verner was set to make a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2017 season when the Buccaneers released him in a move that freed up $6.5 million of available cap space.

In 2016, Verner appeared in all 16 games for the Buccaneers and recorded 16 tackles, one interception and seven pass defenses.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
