Jets Place QB Josh McCown On IR, Promote RB Akeem Judd

The New York Jets announced Tuesday that they’ve placed QB Josh McCown on injured reserve and promoted RB Akeem Judd to their active roster.

  • The Jets also signed RB Jahad Thomas and QB Joel Stave to their practice squad.
  • The Jets lost practice squad OL Geoff Gray to another team.

The Jets’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. OL Ben Braden
  2. DL Deon Simon
  3. CB Terrell Sinkfield
  4. WR Damore’ea Stringfellow
  5. DE Claude Pelon (Injured)
  6. WR Jalin Marshall
  7. TE Zach Conque
  8. WR Lucky Whitehead
  9. WR Tre McBride (Injured)
  10. RB Jeremy Langford
  11. RB Jahad Thomas
  12. QB Joel Stave

McCown left Sunday’s game with a back injury only to return a play later. Unfortunately, McCown took another hit and went to the locker room for X-rays and never returned to the game.

McCown, 38, is a former third-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2002. He played for several teams including the Lions, Raiders, Dolphins, Panthers, 49ers, Bears, Buccaneers and Browns before signing a one-year, $6 million contract with the Jets as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2017, McCown has appeared in 12 games for the Jets and thrown for 2,880 yards while completing 67.8 percent of his passes to go along with 18 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 18 quarterback out of 38 qualifying players.
