Panthers Promote G Tyler Larsen, Waive TE Scott Simonson

The Carolina Panthers announced that they’ve promoted G Tyler Larsen to their active roster and waived TEĀ Scott Simonson.

Panthers C Ryan Kalil is questionable for Week 9, so it makes sense for them to bolster their offensive line depth.

Larsen, 25, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Utah State back in 2014. After a brief stint with the Redskins, Larsen signed a future/reserve contract with the Panthers back in January.

He was able to make the 53-man roster but was waived a close to a month ago before signing on to the Panthers’ practice squad.

In 2016, Larsen has been active for one game.

Simonson, 24, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Assumption College back May of last year. He was unable to make Oakland’s final 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but later signed on to the team’s practice squad.

The Raiders elected to place him on waivers back in June but he later caught on with the Panthers. Simonson wasn’t able to secure a spot on their active roster but was signed to their practice squad the start of the season. Carolina waived him last month before bringing him back a week later.

In 2016, Simonson appeared in five games for the Panthers but has yet to record a statistic.
