Panthers Waiving WR Brenton Bersin

Joe Person, citing a league source, reports that the Panthers are placing WR Brenton Bersin on waivers Saturday.

Person wonders if the Panthers made this move to create a roster spot they can use on an offensive lineman.

It’s possible that this is a temporary move for the Panthers and they could either bring him back next week or sign him to their practice squad in the coming days.

Bersin, 26, signed on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Wofford back in 2012. The Panthers brought Bersin back on a one-year, exclusive rights deal last year before he was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to the practice squad.

Carolina promoted him to their active roster a few weeks later and he’s been on their 53-man roster ever since.

In 2016, Bersin has been active for one game but has yet to record a statistic.
