NFL Notes: Hue Jackson, Buccaneers, Ravens, & Saints

Hue Jackson

  • Albert Breer reports that Bengals OC Hue Jackson is interviewing with 49ers and Browns on Sunday.
  • Should Jackson land one of the two jobs, Bengals DC Vance Joseph will be a target for him as his defensive coordinator.
  • According to Breer, Packers OL coach Mike Solari could possibly be his offensive coordinator.
  • Dianna Marie Russini reports that Jackson sounds like the next “hot offensive coach” for head-coaching jobs.

Buccaneers

  • Mike Garafolo reports that the Buccaneers have denied the Chargers’ request to interview DL coach Joe Cullen, which could signal that they plan to keep some of their staff in place.

Ravens

  • Jamison Hensley of ESPN does not see the Ravens bringing back veteran players like DT Haloti Ngata or WR Anquan Boldin due to their age.
  • Hensley insists that the Ravens must get “younger, faster, and more athletic” this offseason.
  • According to Hensley, OT Eugene Monroe should not be expected to be released until the team has a viable replacement at his position.
  • Hensley expects the Ravens to explore their options with re-signing G Kelechi Osemele and installing him at left tackle, or they could look towards the first couple rounds of the draft for a new lineman.

Saints

  • Mike Triplett of ESPN writes that runningbacks Tim Hightower and Travis Cadet‘s performance last season “absolutely” could impact the Saints’ decision regarding C.J. Spiller and Khiry Robinson.
  • Hightower and Cadet are set to become unrestricted free agents, while Robinson will be a restricted free agent.
  • Spiller is just one-year into a four-year, $16 million contract and would bring a hit of $5.3 million in dead money should he be released.
  • With Robinson being a restricted free agent, the Saints must offer at least $2.5 million to require second-round compensation from a team instead in signing him away.
