Bengals Expected To Make A “Major Push” To Re-Sign LB Vincent Rey

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Bengals are expected to make a “major push” to re-sign LB Vincent Rey.

However, nothing is considered imminent at this point in time.

Wilson mentions that fellow Bengals LB Rey Maualuga‘s three-year, $15 million contract that included $4.5 million guaranteed could be used a comparable deal for Rey.

Should Rey test the open market, Wilson lists the Vikings, Redskins, Buccaneers and Dolphins to keep an eye on for him.

Rey, 28, wound up signing on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Duke back in 2010. He spent his first year on the practice squad before later being called up towards the end of his rookie season.

The Bengals brought him back in an exclusive rights deal in 2012 and 2013 before signing him to a restricted contract in 2014.

In 2015, Rey appeared in all 16 games for the Bengals and recorded 98 tackles, one sack, an interception and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 21 outside linebacker in a 4-3 out of 35 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
