NFL Notes: Brian Hoyer, Sua Cravens, Bears, & Cowboys

Brian Hoyer

  • Bill Williamson is hearing that the market for free agent QB Brian Hoyer could pick up later on in the week.
  • There was some speculation that the Patriots could have interest in Hoyer now that Tom Brady is once again facing a four-game suspension. However, Jason La Canfora does not expect Hoyer to sign with the Patriots.
  • Hoyer has visited with the Jets and Broncos up to this point while the Cowboys and Steelers were also mentioned if he was willing to take a backup job.

Sua Cravens

  • USCโ€™s Sua Cravens said that a lot of teams view him as a safety in the NFL. (Sirius XM NFL Radio)
  • Cravens added that he visited with the Saints, Falcons, and the Lions.

Bears

  • Jeff Dickerson reports that Bears WR Alshon Jeffery has not been present for the start of the voluntary offseason workout program that got underway on Apr. 18.
  • According to Dickerson, this was not unexpected and Jeffery is expected to return to for the Bearsโ€™ mandatory veteran minicamp that begins June 14-16, if not sooner.

Cowboys

  • Cowboys owner Jerry Jones mentioned that theyโ€™re likely to remain an No. 4 overall and take the best available player. (Andrew Siciliano)
  • Brandon George mentions that with Jones comparing FSU DB Jalen Ramsey to Deion Sanders, you get sense Ramsey would be their pick at No. 4 overall if heโ€™s still there.
  • In regards to Joey Bosa, Jones said that potential character questions were resolved to point they wonโ€™t be factor in whether heโ€™s drafted by Dallas. (Ed Werder)
  • Jones said that itโ€™s not a high priority to draft a quarterback who could eventually take over for Tony Romo this year. (Brandon George)
  • Jones essentially confirmed DeMarcus Lawrence will serve a four-game suspension and referred to the situation as โ€œa lossโ€ and โ€œsetback.โ€ (Nick Eatman)
  • Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar will likely being the year on the teamโ€™s PUP list. (Todd Archer)
