Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Hilliard, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Texans back in May of 2015. He was unable to make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseasonย but was later signed to their practice squad at the start of the season.
The Texans elected to bring Hilliard back on a future/reserve contracts each of the past two years but he was cut loose a few weeks after this year’s NFL draft. The Redskins signed him to a contract this summer and waived him coming out of the preseason.
Hilliard was been on and off of the Redskins’ roster this season.
Hillard has yet to appear in an NFL game.
