49ers Agree To Terms With Rugby Star Jarryd Hayne

The San Francisco 49ers have reached an agreement with Australian rugby star Jarryd Hayne, per Aaron Wilson.

  • According to Wilson, Hayne will be signing a future/reserve contract with the team.
  • New 49ers HC Jim Tomsula apparently convinced him to sign with San Francisco instead of the Lions or Seahawks.
  • The agreement includes a $100,ooo signing bonus, according to Mike Garafolo.

A report from a few weeks ago said that Hayne had reached an agreement, but that proved to be incorrect. The Seahawks were also in the running for Hayne.

Hayne, 27, left his Australian rugby team last October to pursue an NFL career, which was surprising news to the team.

Hayne is likely to be either a running back or a fullback in the NFL, but it appears as though he’ll have to secure a roster spot in training camp this summer.
