49ers Believe TE George Kittle Will Return For Week 3

Adam Schefter, citing a league source, reports that the 49ers believe TE George Kittle will be able to return from a sprained MCL in his left knee for Week 3’s game against the Giants.George Kittle

Kittle underwent an MRI last Monday that revealed an MCL sprain. Even so, Kittle was seen around the team’s training facility walking without a limp.

San Francisco has already ruled out Kittle for Week 2 and plans to rely on Jordan Reed and Ross Dwelley in his absence.

Kittle, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the 49ers out of Iowa back in 2017. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $2.69 million contract and set to make a base salary of $735,000 in 2020 when he agreed to a new five-year, $75 million extension with the 49ers this past August.

In 2020, Kittle has appeared in one game for the 49ers and caught four passes for 44 yards receiving to go along with nine rushing yards and no touchdowns.

We’ll have more on Kittle as the news is available.
